Dragon2000 and GarageCloud are aimed at different businesses. Dragon2000's DragonDMS has been in the UK market for over 30 years and serves more than 1,000 vehicle businesses, but its primary market is car dealerships — it includes used-car stock management, dealer website integration and finance product administration alongside workshop tools (see Dragon2000's own product page). GarageCloud is built for independent garages, MOT centres, mobile fitters, locksmiths and fleet services — without the dealership-specific tooling.
Pricing
Dragon2000's published pricing is £99.95 per user, per month. GarageCloud's Starter plan is £50/month excluding VAT with unlimited staff included, rather than a per-user rate.
What Dragon2000 does well
DragonDMS offers both cloud-hosted and Windows desktop options, which suits a workshop with inconsistent internet or older infrastructure. Its interactive condition reports, colour-coded booking diary, and online card payment links are mature, well-built features backed by three decades in the market — and its dealership tooling (stock, finance admin, dealer website) is a genuine strength if that's the business.
Where GarageCloud is different, not necessarily better
GarageCloud is pre-launch and doesn't have Dragon2000's dealership feature set — nor is it trying to. If a business is a car dealership needing stock and finance administration alongside workshop tools, Dragon2000 is built for that. If it's an independent garage, mobile trade, or fleet service that doesn't need dealership tooling, GarageCloud's Starter plan is priced and built for that instead — see other alternatives too.
