GarageCloud vs TechMan

TechMan is the most established garage management system in the UK. GarageCloud is a newer, lower-cost alternative without a long contract.

TechMan is a genuinely well-established system — a UK-built, cloud-based platform with over 14,500 active users and more than 15 years in the market, according to Capterra's TechMan listing. For a lot of UK workshops, it has been the default choice for a long time.

Pricing and contract length

TechMan publishes three tiers — Lite at £189/month, Advanced at £315/month and Pro at £415/month — tied to a 3-year contract. GarageCloud's Starter plan is £50/month excluding VAT, with no multi-year commitment.

What TechMan does well

TechMan's digital vehicle health check (similar in spirit to GarageCloud's own photo-based inspections) includes customer-facing video and photo, and it integrates directly with Autodata for labour times and technical data — a genuinely deep feature set built specifically for service and repair workshops over a long product history, with multi-location support for groups running more than one site.

What to weigh up

The 3-year contract and the step up in price between tiers (£189 to £415/month) is a meaningful commitment for a smaller or newer workshop. GarageCloud's flat £50–£150/month range and month-to-month structure is aimed at workshops that want to try a system without locking in for three years.

Where GarageCloud is different, not necessarily better

GarageCloud is pre-launch and does not have TechMan's 15-year track record or its Autodata integration yet. A workshop that specifically needs Autodata-integrated VHC today has a real reason to choose TechMan. A workshop that wants to start smaller, without a long contract, is the workshop GarageCloud is built for — see GarageCloud pricing, or other alternatives.
